A Heart String Quilt Finished

I finished this quilt last Saturday. Thanks to Ruthie I quilted it on Mable the long arm it took me two hours. Ruthie shipped her two, mine and another patriotic string quilt. They will be a nice addition to some hero's coming home soon to the barracks. It is always a pleasure to be a part of a surprise.
Ruthie will be posting pictures of the quilts on heartstringquilts.com soon if she hasn't done so already.

Ruthie has been helping me refold my fabric and organize my "quilt studio". When it is all done we will post some before and after pictures. If my mess can be organized there is hope for anyone.

I have been cutting my scraps into squares and strips. Then I'll make up some kits. Getting organized has been because of Sossity's lecture at guild a few weeks ago. One thing she said really sticks in my mind. " You paid $8 to $9 a yard for the small pieces of fabric too not just the yardage". It's hard for me to throw any scraps away when I know that it will go into a land fill.

One quilt guild that I belong to makes cat pillows and donate them to the animal shelter. They send one home with each cat that is adopted. Any kind of fabric can go into the pillow including old socks or whatever. Just be sure there are no pins or needles.

I have been enjoying learning to blog and I'll be back soon.

Heartstring Quilt

Yesterday ( Sunday) started with a blog lesson from Ruthie. She spent an hour on the phone giving me a tutorial on how to put peoples blog names highlighted into my blogs. Whew! I did manage a couple and then it was time to get off the phone.

I finished the borders on the heartstring quilt last night. Now all I need to do is get the backing ready and take it to Ruthies to be quilted. It is supposed to be done soon to be mailed.

I finished the binding on a nursing home lap quilt last night.

I did a little redwork before I went to sleep. I actually did some deep breathing and feel asleep. So, I had no late night snacks. Yeah!

It is so lovely outside. I wonder when the next snowfall will be?

Enough of this procrastinating. LOL I'm going to go organize some more scraps.

Picture of my favorite pincushion.

This is my favorite pincushion. It has lots of room and doesn't tip or fall over. I made it and it's covered in wool. I love making them. I find cups, mugs, little dishes, boxes, and what ever I think is cute. I have a new pincushion pattern that I haven't tried yet.

What fun seeing other people's pincushions. Carey posted a message asking people to show their most used pincushion. What a fun idea. She will have a drawing for an out of print pincushion book.

Closed Roads and blogging

What do closed roads have to do with blogging you ask? Well...... Here in Indiana where I live we are having some really yucky weather.LOL My husband is stuck in Indianapolis for the night because of the roads so... I am trying to get the hang of blogging and not making a mess of it. I can do what I want without interruption that means I will sign off the computer and go sew something. My friend Ruthie spent awhile on the phone with me trying to give me blogging lessons. She was getting a kink in her neck so we had to end the lesson. I need to add the last border for the string quilt and take Truffles, His Majesty out in the snow and ice to go potty. When I learn how to put pictures in my posts you can see what he looks like.

Working on UFO's

By janetsue2Sunday I was at Ruthie's and I quilted a puppy dog flannel quilt on Mabel (long arm). It turned out so cute. My grandson is really too old for it now. Especially since he is almost a teenager. Ruthie is such a patient teacher. Thanks! Ruthie quilted a cute lap quilt for her on-line quilting retreat and she didn't even have a pattern. She is doing awesome. How many people does it take to run a long-arm? Apparently for me the answer is THREE! One to tell me quilt around the bone pattern and one to hold up the puppies ears.

I am almost done with a string quilt for a soldier coming home soon.It is through a group of on-line quilters again through Ruthie threadsof mine.
